Hey! Need help...
Anyway, I am not new to 2142 and have viewed these forums before. However, I need assistance. I uninstalled the game a while back to make room for some bf2 mods. I recently decided to start playing again, and installed the game. I load it up, and the game says I need to patch to 1.4. Fine. Nothing new. I download the patch, and run it. Error! Update Failed!! That's never happened before. On a whim I decided to run the game without patching. It runs fine, I get to the account screen with no problems. I log in, and get to the Soldier Screen. Then I try to sign in with my soldier...CTD. Over and over. Once I tried patching, and it looked like it was working until the very end, then "Update Failed". And it still CTDs! Please Help!! I have never had a problem resembling this, my PC has run the game fine with all High, 4X AA and 1024x768@75Hz. I have an EVGA 7950 GT and Forceware is up to date.

Reinstall the game and redownload the patch. try again.Comment

Make sure you have at least 3 gb of free space on your c: drive before patching.
See if you can find the patch log file, it might have some info inside.Comment

Also check that it is the full 1.4 patch and not the incremental patch from 1.25Comment

Tried, didn't work.
Personally, I've never heard of what I'm experiencing: I CTD upon SIGNING IN, not just running game. I've fully uninstalled, reinstalled, and patched. When I patch I always get "Update Failed" Error.
Another weird thing: when I was reinstalling for the 3rd time, my PC crashed and shut down halfway through the installation. When I rebooted, It said the game was installed. I knew it probably wouldn't work, but I ran the game. It worked. I could sign in. Of course, I coudn't play any levels because it was halfway installed, but it was something. This is odd because when I try to run game without patching, it still crashes!!! So I uninstall, then reinstall, and patch, and... still doesn't work. PLEASE HELP!!!
Well! It now works. I can't explain why. It took like four reinstall-patches to do it, but it works now. Thank you!Comment
