T90 is the best. Whenever I am in Abrams and engage in 1v1 fight versus equally skilled tank driver I lose approximately 3-7 from 10 rounds.

No, actually in real life T-90 would own M1, even though they look like they aren't even in the same class considering T-90 weighs 47 tons and M1 64.

Damn waaah_wah, you're right, I checked yesterday and Type 98 does indeed lack elevation, T90 and M1 both can aim way higher.

To find an equivalent Western tank to the T-90 you would need to take a comparable tank to the T-64 or T-72 (like the American M60, for example) and continue to upgrade it with reactive armor and newer electronics. Now, does anyone seriously think that the M60, even with ERA, improved FCS and such, would be a match for the M1/Leo/Chall class of tanks? Hell, the M60 couldn't withstand a hit from a training round, let alone a real "go to war" sabot round. I should know, I was in the range tower when one M60 shot another at night time with a training round, in the frontal arc of the turret. The round penetrated. It injured all three crew in the turret. Good thing for them none of the ammo was detonated by spalling. Anyhow, the point is we have cases in 1991 where M1's took hits from T-72's without being penetrated. We have a case where a training round from one M60 penetrated another M60. The T-72, armor wise, is about on par with the M60. Draw your own conclusions. Now, speaking as someone with a fair amount of experience with tanks (20 years, hands on, including combat) I have to say that platform upgrades do not result in drastic improvement. My guess, based on experience and real world knowledge of the T-72, is that the T-90's performance is improved perhaps 50% over the T-72. That still leaves it quite outclassed by the M1, even the M1-IP. Roughly it would be like a PzKw-III G or H against a T-34. The only reason the Wehrmacht units with the III's defeated Russian units with T-34's is because the Wehrmacht units were significantly superior tactically. Based on their performance in Chechnya, lack of funds, and generally poor level of training the Russian Army would be at a disadvantage with both the abilities of the T-90 and the tactical skills of the crews and units. In other words, an American battalion of M1's would rip the guts out of a Russian battalion of T-90's. This isn't a nationalist thing at all, it's reality. My opinion in 1980 of how the fight would go when my cavalry squadron had M60's and M113's and the Russian Guards Regiment had T-72's and BMP-1's was a bit different. I also think that regiment's training and tactical skills was better than the current Russian Army's is.

People comparing Abrams to T90 and talking which one would "pwn" which one, usually have absolutely no clue whatsoever about either countries armor doctrines.

The amusing thing is, you cant even really compare a T90 to an Abrams because purely technically, a T90 isnt even an MBT... go figure. Their weight class is completely different.

During the Gulf War; the US suffered most losses due to friendly fire. Their tanks with the advanced technology and efficiently trained crew obliteration the Iraqi tanks (But these were guy who capitulated within a week so go figure as to their skill) The Iraqi's also had old -almost decommissioned- Russian tanks sold to them during the 70's/80's.

Not to mention that its not going to be T90s that are going to be making the kills. Their job is not to go 1 on 1 against an Abrams, their job is to lockthe enemies armor in place for Russian speciality- the artillery. Completely different functions of both tanks.

Yeah, people using Gulf War as an example completely disregard the fact that the poor Iraqi gents were using steel rod penetrators in their sabot rounds, which in worst cases just got stuck into Abrams armor, doing cosmetic damage. Wont even go into training level of the crews.

As for the game. My favourite is the T90, I feel more secure in that tank.

never really played the tanks much, im easy for any of them but prob the type-98 on wake island & oil fields for me
