i'm just saying that you're too quickly to dismiss the 8600gt as junk when really, it's not

I wasn't dismissing it's performance (although it is pitiful and the 9600gt will bend it over and spank it), merely it's price : performance ratio.

I mean, if your going to be spending that much, you may as well add another £30 and do things properly.

People get annoyed with computers because they refuse to save up for quality parts and thus end up with a half arse machine. Then, they have to live with them for another few years because they can't afford to do another full rebuild.

Recently my video card died.
I had a GeForce 6800, 128 MB, on AGP interface. It was good enough for BF2, but not with all video options on high.
So I had to find me another AGP card. Guess what: I bought the HIS HD 2600 XT IceQ Turbo 512MB DDR3.
BF2 runs even better than before, with more video options on high.
Cheap enough, good enough, I highly recommend it.
I had some problems with drivers at first, but I found the latest 8.1 AGP hotfix and now it works like a charm.

Funny thing is, I almost fell back laughing when I saw this topic, completly forgot about it. I am willing to spend 400-450 Bucks, I already have everything I need but Im stuck on the graphic card, some ppl say theres barely any differance and some say theres a world differance, I demand a 20 page argument, with my topic getting locked after a rampant spam bot goes berserk.

EDIT: My friend in Canada said he got a 8600 and he had a 8500 GT 512MB before, he says he can get 45 FPS in PR which is amazing, he has the same specs as me, so I think the 8600 GT 512MB just won

Card performance is relative to the card you had before, just buy something better and it'll be an improvement :shock:

You just have to decide if you think it's worth spending £60 or £360, pound to a penny says that if you spend £360 you'll be as sick as a Pig when the next Uber card appears in the PC mags. :salute:

Ok, Iv bought all these so far, what do need to run a computer

I bought a

Samsung 250 GB Sata HDD
x2 DDR2 1GB Kingston 800
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ (2.6GHz)
Asus 20x8x20 DVD CD-R
Some network thingy

Do I need a motherboard, I have a keyboard and mouse (obviously)..

Well pxr5, i was planning on getting the 8500gt 512mb, but I was told that for a little more money, i can get the 8600gt 512mb which is alot better then the 8500

so ,

and ill look into the MSI, im getting all my parts from Turkey (my cousin owns a shop there) so ill ask if he has any
