Yes, it will run BF2 fine, but for other games I'd get a better gfx card. 8600 or better.

I have that processor, it's good, but again for newer games try to have something with 3 GHz or higher.

Long story short, 8500 is a low budget card not very well adapted for games, while the 8600 is a low budget card suitable for gamers (don't expect too much though). Far from as good as a 8800, obviously. Considering he posted these specs I suspect he doesn't have much money to use, and thereby I recommend the 8600 GTS.

If your buying that new, then, you could do a lot better for the budget you are on, namely the fact that it's AMD.

But, it will play BF2. (but, bf2 is 3 years old, so it damn well should)

actually, I remember reading that 8600GT won best performance for price card of 2007. I wish i remember where I saw this, but I know I was linked to it from the nvidia site. The site has it's own "system requirements lab" thing. anyone know what site I'm talking about?

For near a £100, you could get the epic Radeon 3850...

But, then again, i assume if you go on the AMD site, they'll link you to a few places that award them the best CPU of the year 2007.

3850 is nearly $200 american, where as the 8600GT can be bought for like $80

aslong as you're playing at 1280x1024 resolution or lower, the 8600GT can max out most of today's games so, yeah, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. If you can get better then you obviously wouldn't get the 8600, but if you want something for less than $100, the 8600 is a pretty good choice

And, those are open box products, not retail.

but if someone is getting an 8600, they're not really a hardcore gamer and probably wouldn't even notice the difference between open box, refurb or retail.

i agree with you, though. where you live, yes, the 8600 is a bad deal and you'd obviously get the 3850. but here, the 8600 would be a much better deal

I'm just saying you can't compare product prices when they are not the same thing.

Plus, if you want to spend that little on a graphics card, you'd be best off lurking on ebay for a nice deal on a 7 series card.
