unstable ping low fps

Ok my prob is when i play cod4 its wrks fine then my ping goes from 60-150-300 then back to 60 at the same time my fps drops to 4-10 frames
and this repeats itself on any server this is the werid part bf2 2142 has no ping probs or low fps drops I have the newest drivers from ati defraged spyware checked this is racking my brain to no end i could really use some help here

Be sure you turn off any other programs running in the background, especially any Anti-Virus software (this is a known problem for many people) and/or Instant Messaging (MSN, AIM, etc). Also be sure you do a manual update of Punkbuster.

well turn off everything defrag spayware it wrked fine for before but now its even worse 60ping goes 130-236-500-999 ping this freezes my comp
did pb update too bf2 no prob no ping prob turn off fire wall i just know wht to do i do get cracklen sound when does lagg out this goes foe about 1-2min

Crackling sound is sometimes a soundcard conflict. Some people had Realtek audio issues and had to update the drivers for it. I know you already mentioned updating your drivers, but that was an effect from it.

I am assuming you are on low ping servers?

Well it can be a number of things. my first question is are you going through a router?? Also it could be that u are losing packets. When does your ping spike? like when a grenade goes off next to you. because your computer might not have enough resources left. so u kinda like overload your cpu and it can cause that. Also make sure all background programs are off as Whiskey said also if u have mutable accounts on your computer log them off?

He isn't alone, I got the same problems ever since I installed 1.5 from 1.4 now for a week. At first I thought it was an isp issue, being that I play via satelite so I figured I'd give it time but every day is the same nonesense.

To conclude this, I use to play this game flawlessly before 1.5 came, now it is like every 5 minutes I am in the stone age ping wise, being retardedly high. Even searching servers after this ocurs, the pings are massively high in the thousands! I don't know about FPS loss though as I never bothered to check.

I've tried running with out xfire, yim and anti virus but there is no effect. The ping just jumps as I've stated. I'm beginning to feel that this is a patch issue...

e6600 + 2gb 1066mhz + 8800 gtx + 680i mobo + creative sound card etc etc... I suppose I'll go update my vid drivers right now but as I've stated earlier, everything ran smooth and just fine on 1.4 patch everything set to maxed out. Now I'm lucky to play a round on 1.5 with out this BS.

will i tried all above frontlines i am getting same problem
and now bf2 but not with ping problem cod4 still has that prob for me now i get high fps then drops to 1-10 fps for a minute iam using latest ati drivers ok i have ozc 512 power srpply could that be a problem or a ram test thks for posting any posting helps just rack my brain this so pisses me off no roter shaw modem dirext to computer thks

James ill try monitoring your ping on vent and see if it fluctuates in that as well.. If it's fluctuating everything, I'm thinking it is an ISP issue.. the same issue for me
