Game locks up

I'm having a problem with this game locking up with a constant sound loop.
I am running latest graphics, audio and motherboard drivers.

I have tryed running with the CPU at stock but that doesn't stop it, no monitering tools running in the background.

I'm averaging 100fps when it works with all settings high (texture settings auto)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try before I re-format and re-install?

Spec:Asus P5NE-SLI, core 2 duo E6550 @2.8GHz (sycthe karma kross), 2Gb corsair xms2 pc6400 800Mhz (5-5-5-12), 2x Asus Geforce EN8800gt 512Mb,19"lcd(1440x900) WD 150Gb raptor, ocz 600w psu, Windows Vista 64.

Is this in Single-player, Multi-player, or are you seeing it in both modes?

There's a few things you can try:

a) turn your sound quality down to minimum and see if it still happens

b) keep the sound high, but turn your graphics options down and see

c) keep everything the same, but download and install the latest BETA video card drivers, instead of the "official" ones (Beta drivers are also found on the Nvidia site).

d) backup your Profiles folder on your desktop, then uninstall/re-install the game - you may have a corrupt file in there somewhere that's causing the problem. When you've re-installed, try playing without replacing your Profiles folder (ie. everything fresh). If all goes well, then try to copy/paste the Profiles folder back in.

I had the exact same thing happen to me, and it was the overclocked CPU which caused it. I would run the CPU at standard speed again, it certainly sorted out my issues. I don't think I had everything set up correctly when I did the overclock, & because I have never had a repeat of the lock & constant sound loop since, I haven't bothered with the overclock again.

I may have found the cause of the problem, Ram is frowing errors in memtest, will post an update once I have RMAed the ram

I've recieved my replacement ram and it seems to have done the trick, apart from a stutter at the start of the first round the games running fine
