Ok, I'm new to the forums, very new as you can tell. But i've given up on my self reliance. I got COD4 about a month ago, installed it without any problems. Was at level 53 in a week. I go out of town for a week and my friend who was watching my pets came over and played COD4 when he was bored. I come back from the trip and my computer is trashed. I had to crash my computer, and send it back to Best Buy because it was under warranty. They sent it back to Geek Squad headquarters, who in turn sent it back saying there was nothing wrong. Best Buy knew there was so they ran another diagnostic test and then replaced the ram. The first thing i attempted to install when i got my computer back was COD4. I installed it once and when i tried to run the multiplayer it came up with an error saying that the iw3mp.exe has stopped working, every time i tried it said the same thing. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it many many times and it still comes up with the same error. Single player runs fine but multiplayer wont run at all. I also run The Witcher without any problems other than the Video card randomly crashing, but that has been happening since the first day i got my computer. I haven't seen any other complaints of this sort on the forums i've been looking at today. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

format your hard drive, then reinstall your os.
save your profile first unless its not there anymore and/or you think you can just get the rank again quick

Formatting the HDD and reinstalling the OS is almost always a last resort when everything else fails. Probably too early to do this, IMO.
First - Have you also downloaded and applied all of the COD4 patches yet? If not, be sure to do so as most, if not all of them, affect the .exe.
Many other users have reported the "iw3mp.exe has stopped working" problem as well. It's been awhile, so I'm not sure what the causes were off the top of my head, but try some Google searches and you'll get some clues as well.
Good luck.
