I would say atleast a 1Mb connection, so 1024 down and 256 up or more.

Also, what are your system specs. It doesn't just depend on the internet.

n order to play the game at the recommended resolution, detail and performance levels, your computer should match or exceed the following specifications:

          CPU: 3.0 Ghz
          RAM: 1.5 Gb
Video Card: 256Mb DirectX compliant video card, Pixel shader 2.0 and above.
Hard Drive space: 1.8Gb of space is required to install the game
          Internet connection: 512Mb Cable/DSL connection

You only need a 512MB connection, it makes no diff between 512MB and 4GB for net speeds your ping stays the same.

You shouldn't have a problem with the current rig, I'm running

                Pentium M 2.0 (Laptop)
                1.5 gigs ram
                Geforce go 6800 (256ram)
                512k download

and it runs smooth with the resolution 1024x768 I have the settings at medium to high took Tweakguides.com advice for the settings.

Just play on servers you have a good ping on - when looking for a server click the advance tab and and you can list servers according to ping. Under 50 you are golden. 50-100 you are probably okay. Over 100 and you may start to encounter some problems. Over 200 and you'll get owned because of lag.

with your current computer set everything to medium, turn off AA and set resolution to 1024x768 If you currently have it set up that way then theres something wrong.
