No servers appearing for me.

I'm running on Windows Vista, I have installed 1.4 but it still tells me there is a newer version and no servers are showing up for me to join.

Check your server filters....

Also check your Firewall,
Both in Windows and your Routers (If applicable.)

Also try asking around about Port Forwarding if you have a Router.
