For the entire time since I began playing 2142, I have used Heavy Armor, but now I am wondering which is really better... What would some of you guys recommend/use?
Light vs. Heavy Armor

Light Armor for Engis, if a tank hits you your dead no matter what armor you have. Light Armor for Recon (Sniper, not Spec-Ops), you want to be able to move across the map quickly. Light Armor for Knifing regardless of the kit I am using. Heavy for the rest.Comment

I almost always use light. I play mainly Assault or Engi. Like Fin said, you get hit by a tank shell and you're dead no matter what. When I play Assault I am more of a medic getting the revives than the guy rushing into the mix so the extra sprint is nice. It really depends on the role you are playing. However, the difference is only about 1-2 bullets when it comes to how many it takes to kill you in light vs. heavy armor if I'm thinking right. I may have to test it out tonight to see what difference it makes, unless someone already knows.Comment

if your running with a squad of assault players and are staying together go with light. If your engaging enemies from tactical distances or you know that you dont need to travel too far such as you are defending a flag just use heavy. I generally use heavy all the time no matter what, maybe if im using a clark or recon car bomb or something ill just go light.Comment

I always use heavy. I play engineer a lot and having the heavy armor is needed when you are outside the vehicle (repairing, capping silos if not driving, generally spawning into mayhem). You need to get up close with the smg and the heavy armor helps you get there.
If I played recon or were going to work on knifing, I would probably use light.Comment
