Meh, I'll come on as soon as it's no longer 24/7 SAB.
You people need to get on the TCOD4 server.

This is the largest problem with CoD4: too many options. Folks have opinions on just about everything and it is nearly impossible to get them to come to a consensus.
I love Normal mode as opposed to Hard Core. I could say, "I will only play this server if it is set to Normal." But, that means the other folks who exclusively play HC will not play.
It is much more fun to play against/alongside others vs. having an empty server. I suggest that we set our preferences aside and just play the WHOLE GAME. That means, all the maps, all the game modes, all the weapons and equipment: no restrictions + max possible variety.
Otherwise, what would the TGN server offer? Custom maps? A unique mod? Why should I play at TGN vs. the other 15,000+ servers out there?Comment

Sonic makes a lot of good points above. Part of the reason for the TGN COD4 server was so that people who interact on this forum would have an easy-to-find place to play together (and then discuss the game afterwards on the forums). In order to do that, some folks are going to have to make some compromises and concessions - playing some game-types/maps that they might not prefer, in order to play with people they know from the forums.
Going back to the MOHAA/SH days, my group was quite large and there were a lot of differing tastes. So, every so often, we switched some things up - like friendly-fire on/off, regular smoke/poison smoke, faster/slower run-speed, etc. Even if some people were annoyed with FF or something, the draw was playing together as a group.
So maybe some things to think about are:
a) switching things up every so often (maps/customs, game-types, HC/SC, etc)
b) people putting aside their "I'll never play if/unless _____" attitudes, if they really want to shoot 'em up with others from this forum and support the server. Servers with more people on them, also attract more public players.Comment

I'd really just like to have a place to meet up with some of my friends from TGN. While some of you do stop by my server (see below) from time-to-time, that's not the place for an international gathering as it's in Los Angeles.
I originally got a little ticked off when people started with their campaigns to get the server setup the way they wanted -- or not at all. "Can't we all just get along?" lol
The admins could set it up so that for a couple of days it would be Hard Core with 5-10 maps with various GPMs. The next couple of days, it could be Normal mode with a different set of maps and GPMs. The next couple of days could be Custom maps, etc.
Any admins willing to take on this responsibility?Comment
