Cod4 nuking your connection?

Well i myself am having problems with cod4 now,after maybe 2 refreshes my internet totally drops.This is not a isolated incident since i can get results every time.

So im wondering anyone else having this problem?

Whenever i join a server and the connection times out my internet dies until i unplug my modem for 60 seconds and then plug it in again.

I have no problems! Maybe your firewalls are not configured properly (server browser ports)? although I don't see why this would make you time out.

The server browser is known to do this, because the large amount of ping requests when refreshing the browser can be interpreted as a DoS by your ISP.

Yeah, I've had this problem since patch 1.4 - which brought about the pings of 300+ in my browser, making it unusable.

After loading the servers, my internet would time out for a little bit - really messed up.

Doesn't happen with CoD4, but does with BF2. My Internet connection just dies for about 2-5 minutes then magically comes back again.

oh crap! thanks, i have been having some weird connection issues that have never happened before! maybe this explains it.......ok, i found the first downfall to COD4......sh!t.......

I have no problems. THe pings displayed for me are around 300-900 but when i join a game they are only about 30-50. So the servers pings are displayed wrong.

Okay, it's not just me then... Not a major issue at this time, but am getting some strange disconnects lately.

ive had this problem since 1.4 also. we found that if you dont hit refresh twice in a row you should be fine. hit refresh once, join a game, leave the game (if necessary) then hit refresh ONCE and find another server if you want. very annoying, but it beats having to reboot the modem every 5 minutes.

I've got a few disconnects from Internet these days.
Today, even one from inside COD, and one "losing connection"... Seems to be that this comes from 1.5, hope they repair that on the following patches... :/

finally, others are having this problem.

This started around 1.4 and let me tell you what I've tried so far.

Replaced cable modem,
Replaced router,
Re-installed XP
Defragmented HD,
Tried Port-Forwarding

Nothing works. It seems to get better when I bypass my router and go straight through my modem, but I do not want to keep my computer exposed like that, and even this is a new router so don't try blaming on that either as I've tried two.

I'm getting the same symptoms you guys are. Loses connection to my internet for a few minutes. The more times I disconnect from a server and update again, the fewer servers show up on the browser. Eventually there is none.

Sometimes I can get the browser to load servers, but all of them will time out.

This is about to make me not want to play this game anymore. I don't see why this wouldn't be a major bug worth fixing in 1.5

I've already drove my isp crazy with all of the phone calls trying to figure this out.
