So what would happen if you modded the FAV to go as fast as a Pillum/rocket projectile, and fired a shot from the back? Would the round just hover there or would it reaccelerate back to its normal speed.

And also, how does sideways shooting out of an air transport work? I've never really been able to hit anything, even with the mounted guns.

If a pilum is shot out the back of a FAV going at the same speed.. they will move apart faster than normal...

Unless you want to fire in the same direction.

If the FAV is going < this way and you fire > this way, the round is obviously going to be gone pretty fast.

If you fire in the same direction, it should go faster than the FAV (based on RL physics) but it's only a game and physics is next to nonexistant in BF2142.

ehm so you mean if someone is in a fav and driving real fast and the outside passenger shoots a round? well in my case the round goes backwards :O!

The pilum round will always be as fast as it was no matter how fast you go with the FAV if you shot it from the moving FAV. However, it will move away from you twice as fast if you shoot to the other direction - not the one you are driving to. But the speed of the pilum will be the same nevertheless.
If a soldier on the ground shoots it, and you drive the FAV next to the projectile, of course it will seem like it's stuck in the air.

When shooting sideways out of the transport you have to aim infront (when moving like) you can see your stream of bullets serving in the air. Annoying when you can see them clearly hitting the gunship though and nothing is happening.

Depends which way its fired, with it would probably be the same speed as the FAV, fired away from the FAV, would appear to go twice as fast. :nod:
But there is only one to know for sure.

One of my buds frapsed himself flying in a gunship next to a pilum shot, it was so awesome.

The pilum shot was slightly faster but it still looked like haxorz.

Then they will continue to go opposite directions, and will separate very quickly.

The round cannot stay there, as the FAV is moving in the opposite direction, infact, the you will continue to move.

I see what you mean, but the pilum round should stay there for an instant and then continue on.

The Pilum will fly away from the guy who shoots twice as fast as it would if he fired it from the ground. The FAV needs to drive as fast as a Pilum round, though.
For people on the ground, there won't be any differences, the Pilum shot from the FAV is as fast as always.

The pilum accelerates to its maximum speed. (It should).
