that's what your pistol is for. i learned to pull out my desert eagle if it's anything more than 7-8 ft. away.

yes,but the time it takes to switch form shotty to pistol or pistol to shotty is absolutely horrendous.

Perhaps the Shotty works best combined with Overkill and weapon with quick draw time, like the G36c.

            Why RDS?

Did you know that sight-aiming increases pellet spread by 10%?

Possibly because he wants the 3 Frags, and that the W1200 looks better with the RDS.

The only point in increasing spread is to, well, hit two enemies close to each other, but that must be extremely rare.

I wasn't aware the RDS increased spread by 10%. Then again, IW doesn't exactly advertise this information for us to make the proper decisions... and I don't have time to test everything either.

I'll take your word for it and use the 3-dots.

Heh, didn't know that either. But I never shoot scoped anyway.

Why would the bullet spread be higher when scoped anyway? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I just rechecked Dairukas wiki entry and it doesnt increase. It doesnt decrease either. I remember reading someones post who gave 5 and 5.5 spread numbers respectively. But anyway, if theres no positive effect on spread, why scope the gun?

Cause it looks good (debatable) and you really want the first perk?

3*stun gets me much more kills than grip ever would by far.

I've never found much love for the shotty's in CoD4. Just about every time I use them, I find myself wishing I had a SMG instead. Their range is just atrocious. The only times I've found them even remotely useful, was with OverKill and a sniper rifle. Since I've gotten better with my pistol, I don't even like that anymore.

As a class, they just don't seem as well implemented as the other weapons. I mean a scope? Maybe if we had slugs, but for buckshot? Might as well put an ACOG on a flame thrower.

It also has a lot to do with the current maps available. Give me some more maps where it's all building interiors like vacant and I might start finding the love.

 Yeah, but then you'd have to deal with the sway when you're scoped-in!

Agreed. CoD4 is far from a shotgun friendly game. I'd like to blame it on that all weapons are ridiculously accurate unscoped and shotgunners have a hard time to get close to their victims.

I played BF2142 today and had a 6 K/D ratio with the Clark, I could never do that good in CoD4. If I play BF2 I'll get a similar K/D (if Karkand whoring at least) just because it's so much more rewarding to use a shotgun in BF games.

But it's still fun and I don't care about stats, so it doesn't matter too much for me.

I can get a 10:1 KDR in Bloc, thanks to a shotgun. Something I wouldnt be getting with any other weapon. Shotgun is a 1 shot kill weapon, and is rather forgiving if you miss. Whoever says COD4 is not a "shotgun friendly game" tries to use a shotty as a RL weapon.

If we get face to face, and I have my shotgun kit. Youre dead. Youre dead up to 10 metres, and up to 15, its a matter of 2 shots.

COD4 is a very, very shotgun friendly game. Thing is, only certain maps fully favour shotgunns, only a few. Which is why I use my shotgun on Bloc only.

That's what I meant about the game not being shotgun friendly Partly at least...

If you get inside a building at Bloc with a shotty you're untouchable  Other than that there are too few close quarters in most of the maps, even though the maps are pretty small themselves.

And I can't get over the fact that the shotgun pellets seem to disappear when firing at someone > 8 meters away. But that's just me not being used to any other shotgun than the Clark hehe :)
