How to snipe

I know it may sound trivial but I just can't do it.

I just finished a round of Strike and for the life of me I couldn't hit stationary targets. I couldn't even get a hit indicator to come up.

I thought it was just as simple as putting the cursor over the guy's head, holding shift and then firing a round off. What am I doing wrong?

Is there bullet drop or deviation or something? My ping is normally around 50-70 if that matters.

If you have the crosshair on them... It'll work.

When they're running or moving, you need to lead your target depending on the range.

Not that I'm much of an expert, but I find it much easier to hold shift until your breathing settles, and then put the cursor over the guy's head - should never miss if he's stationary.

It might have been the server I was playing on. Everybody was having connection issues and warping around the map.

My MO has been to hold shift, bring the sight up, count off a couple heartbeats and fire. I've found this much more accurate then the twitch shooting I see a lot of snipers doing. Granted, I'm sure as you get better at sniping, you DO get to the point where you do this, but I think too many people rush it and think this is the way you start.

Bring IronLungs with you, also Stopping Power if possible. Being able to hold your breath for an exceedingly long time can really help if you absolutely hate the sway.

Or it might just be a bad day. I had one where I couldn't hit anybody at all with the Dragunov, but on another I was picking everybody off left and right.

That's pretty much how it's done. Keep trying, sniping can be extremely effective in this game.

wrong - it true it doesn't matter how long u hold ur breath, but the bullet does not neccesarily go where ur crosshair is. It deviates. Especially on the semi-auto rifles

Well, I have a problem with taking too much time lining up the shot, in which I will lose my oppurtunity if the guy runs. Or he kills me first. Which ever.

I find the most important key to sniping is to stay 1 step ahead of whatever sniping spot is the flavor of the week for that map.

I found in increase in accurate sniping by holding the crosshair for 2 secs with the Barratt.

Snap shooting always seems to make me miss

hold shift till there is no sway at all then fire, usually 1-2 secs after holding shift
