Oh I agree dont get me wrong, when I play TF2 for example the scout is one of my favourite classes, I much prefer fast paced, twitch combat tbh

Its just while UT3 is great and all i can remember when I got the original UT, ut2k3, and 2k4 and thought they were the best things since sliced bread

I just think Epic could have done a much better job with the game than they did, I think it should have built on 2k4 and not really removed from it. The phrase I have read and have used is 2 steps forward but 1 step backwards...tbh I blame the console influence pure and simple

I hope the player base picks up more, cos some of the greatest times I have had online have been incinerating people with my trusty instagib rifle

That's definitely true. There are some game modes missing that were there before, and for some people, especially the UT community, leaving 2k4 to go play a game with fewer features is not logical.

Still, you have to compare games fairly. UT2k4 was not a stand-alone game, in that it took UT2k3, added a year of professional mapping, modding and polish to it, and re-released that. If you compare UT3's 40 stock maps to 2k3's, you'll see that UT3 actually has more. It's just that 2k4 is two games in one.

Anyway, Epic has already announced bonus packs for this game, and the community mapping is already going. There are some excellent maps and even the wonderful HOLP map pack out there that should keep you busy for a while. Also, there are lots of really nice remakes of classic maps like Codex, Campgrounds, Liandri, etc.

As much as I hate saying this: this game needs a re-release, as well as a good 3rd patch that fixes stupid things like broken demo record/spectate, adds most if not all of UT2k4's features back in, and maybe an original gametype in the bonus pack.
If Epic just listens to the community, they'll see that there are tons of people that are on the edge of buying this game, but aren't convinced yet.

And come on, who would be convinced by "this is 2k4 with nice graphics, but less features"? I can't blame them:laugh:
Most people don't care about better weapon balancing or 1v1 mode, even though UT veterans will greatly appreciate those.

I have 2k4 and was not going to get UT3, then I found HMV selling it for £11.99 and free delivery.

I thought what a bargain and ordered it.:yay:

How does CTF play out in this game?

I've never played UT before but I am looking for a good CTF game. I had been waiting for a good ctf mod for cod but that does not seem to be coming down the pipe anytime soon.

What kind of system specs do you need to run it smoothly?

I only have a amd 3800 x2, 8600GTS, and 2 gigs of ram atm on xp, should that be enough to muster running the game?

Ya, I knew with my system I was not going to be using to much eye candy just did not know if I could run it at all.

For instance, CoD4, and BF2 I can run good on med-low settings.

But anything that uses source engine I cant run at all, even with all settings on low and AA off.

Was not sure how this game's engine handled.

Also, what do you prefer, Vehicle CTF or regular CTF, can servers run both?

how can you run BF2 and cod4 but not a game on the source engine? so you can't run portal, HL2, etc?

Yep, cant run CSS, DoDS, any of em.

Don't know what it is, but no matter what I do to the settings (res, AA, graphics details) I can only get 40 FPS max (thats when nothing is going on on-screen), so basically the games are un-playable because once your start throwing grenades, busting glass, and shooting guns it all goes to ****.
