BF2 crashes to desktop

Hi ,
BF2 crashes to desktop whenever I try to join a server.Everything is fine till i try to connect to a server. What can be the problem? I have played all afternoon without any problems today. My system is 2.8 ghz p820 d geforce 7600 gt 1gb ddr 2 533mhz ram 120 gb 7200rpm harddisk.I have not updated anything nor have I altered any setting. Help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks

does any error message show up when it crashes?

have you tried updating the graphics driver for that 7600?

also, try clearing your cache in My Documents>Battlefield 2>Mods>BF2>Cache

Ok i think the problem was because of some missing registry entries i did a custom uninstall before playing; hopefully i had a backup of my registry when i loaded it everthing seemed to be ok and i was able to join servers. BTW thanks for help i tried them but they didnt work.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Running Vista, 500gb hdd, AMD Athlonx2, 1gb RAM. Ive tried getting rid of the BattleField folder in My Documents with no luck. No error message just crashes straight to the desktop. Any suggestions or is a re-install the only real option here?

well Crusher01, ive got same problem on XP SP 2 but, i can join server.. after 1-150seconds of playing its CTD

my graphic is Ati radeon x700 se
3.2 HT GHz Intel Pentium
1 GB DDR Ram
40GB+ HDD Free Space
i dont really realize whats the problem

one thing is to check processes running that make your PC unstable, like XFIRE....

wojvenom if you have the time i recommend u reinstall the game.

i had the same problem - ive had the game for a long time and it never did that, i reinstalled and applied patch etc.

now the game is back to normal and im enjoying some BF2 goodness =P

Could also be a punktbuster problem ... try to update to the newest version outside of BF:

well after updating pb it says that my cd key is used by someone.. well i haven't got original battlefield 2.. dam it..
