Should there be a Marksman kit?

Hello everybody.

I just got off a few rounds of Karkand with the clan. We started USMC and went to Subrub, captured, got Square, then Train. Now somehow somebody got Suburb and a huge Sniper/Medic/Grenade whoring war began between the two flags (Subrub and Train).

So my friends and I were, Medic, Support, and me with M16A2/M203 as a Marksman. And we came to notice it would be imposssible to get up that hill as somebody with an auto/semi-auto 7.62 weapon was needed for these kinds of situations. The G3 is good for this but it doesn't have the needed scope.

My point being if you understand is I think there should be an 8th class, the Marksman kit. I'm thinking of an AK101 with a PSO-1, and M14 with an ACOG, and an SKS with a PSO-1 is need, very badly!

L85 is pretty much a pocket sniper.

It doesn't have the power/accuracy that a DMR would have. I think there should be a DMR in the game.


It's a good weapon don't get me wrong, but it doesn't stand up to L96A1s and other bolties. Against an SVD most people will come out on top with it, but not a boltie!

DICE should've just given the G3 a scope.

Nah. Another kind of annoying thing is the unlocks are for all sides. DICE should have made upgrades for the weapons, or new weapons but for a certain side.

Call of Duty 4 almost got it right. Exept they also made all the guns for each faction. But that's just my opinion.

They should divide the sniper class into sniper (bolt action rifles) and designated marksman (semi auto rifles like the SVD or Type 88)

That's a good idea.^^ But I don't think the SVD or Type 88 should be considered DMRs, and they have low magazine capacity and a long range scope. The DMR should be something with 15-20 rounds and have a medium range scope.

Personally, I would've liked to see DICE put in the SPR as a marksman's rifle. Semi-auto fire plus a decent scope (It's basically a converted M14 stock if I remember correctly).

PR is for you.. and i never recommend PR to anyone... cuz it just whores..but u will like it... Give it a try..

Or wait to June / Oct for BF3 and see what you get

I'd say go with PR then....there'll be fewer kits in BF3 than BF2 IIRC.

10 shots is enough. Well, maybe not in Bf2, but in PR it works great

The L85 and semi auto snipers really do a pretty good job filling the midrange void between regular snipers and assault rifles. I don't think that a single shot rifle has a place in a modern BF game. It just wouldn't feel right, kinda like the g3/m14 in COD4.
