Problem Patching

I bought World in Conflict, Collector's Edition, when the game came out. I just got around to finishing the single player campaign last night and was going to try my hand in an online game. I'm still running version 1.00 as I hadn't played online before.

I went to the main menu and clicked multiplayer, enter the CD Key and it tells me I need to patch the game. So I download the patch and try to install it. After it tries to open I get a message saying Unable to Find World in Conflict Installer will now close. I went to filefront and got patch 5 to try it that way and again had the same error. I've also tried launching the patch from the same folder as the WIC data to no effect.

As far as I can tell the game runs perfectly from the shortcut I created at install which points to the WIC .exe in the Sierra/WIC folder.

Do I need to back-up my save data for the campaign and reinstall or is there a simpler solution? I've never run into this problem with any game/program before. Thanks for any help

I would try to just uninstall the game (save your saved games files) and reinstall it. Then try getting the patches right off the bat when you start the game. What version of Windows are you using?

Do you seriously have to spam on all the threads bobo, anyway I had the same problem when I first got World In Conflict 3 weeks ago, what I did was just uninstall the game, restart the computer and shut down anything running such as virus scans and other open programs. Then install the game and run the patches when given so. After that launch Multiplayer and it should work. Once you download all the maps then just upload your saved files into the directory and it should be fixed. If not there could be a corrupt file on the disk and you might have to try and repair it from the Add or Remove programs list.
