COD4 loading problem

Installed and played for 10mins in training area, game bombed out to desktop and since been unable to load the game. Message about safe mode etc.

Downloaded the 1.4 patch still no joy

Uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled COD4 without patch, still same problem.

Ran windows updates, downloaded latested Nvidia drivers 169.21. Checked motherboard chipset drivers; latest installed. Just finished Vegas, hardware has no problems.

Is there a log file that might indicate which point the game is failing?

Not that I know of. Maybe someone else may know of something that will work.

You might check the event logs in Windows. It may give more information on a warning.

Another person has had this problem and I did not hear of a fix for it.
