IMO BF2 in DX10 isn't going to make that much of a difference, you may get smoother edges and stuff, but it isn't going to make a huge difference as the game wasn't designed for DX10. I haven't really played BF2 since i got the DX10 card.

it runs on vista, but the DX10 wont make any difference to the game.

After you get Vista installed and updated, make sure to download and run this,

Updates the DirectX 10 components and adds the DirectX 9 components that are missing/not there.

I have it working fine on my Vista pc, I'm using an Nvidia 8500GT.

I have no problems running BF2 on Vista 64-bit with direct X10. Good idea to install all the files as stated by Stormy.
