I have a strange problem with my montor. I have a Viewsonic flat screen digtal montor. I had a new gaming card put in and the screen started flashing on MoH an old game so I thought it was just ahead of the game but then the same thing on Crysis. I have however been able to play BF2 and SF with no problem but I bought the complete collection addition and installed it now it also will not stop flashing. It also seems like the off time is getting longer and longer. Could it be that I need a new montor?

All the monitors that I have acess to are not like mine the plugs are different and when you use their plug it does not work. I do not know why but I did look up what I have if this helps
I run XP
AMD Athlon 64 process
ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT
2.21 GHz
1.50 GB of Ram
The monitor is a plug and play and it says it is running 65fps
I do not have much knowledge of these things but I did not see a way to increase or decrease the rate.Comment

lemme ask you this, did you uninstall the drivers to your old GFX card? if not, right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager>display adapters>uninstall driver. I then want you to download a program called driver cleaner pro (google it) run that in safe mode and reinstall a fresh set of drivers for your card.Comment

Thanks for the help but I did not work It did however delete some files before and after the cleaning but as soon aas the game loaded it went right back. What are your thoughts on geek squad?
I ran a Test direct3d it ran fine untill it tested the 3D 9 the the screen started to flash. Maybe this is some insight to someone.
Ok more of an update.
I found out the version of xp was not real so I bought the real version and downloaded the directx 10 but ended up with directx 9c not sure about that but, I then uninstalled the card and reinstalled it and now the direct 3d 9 is working fine but still no constant screen it just flashes on and off.Comment

I've just spotted a post elsewhere which is unrelated to your problem, but take a look at the 2nd post about matching monitor refresh rates to those in your game graphics settings. It might just be worth checking out ?

I doubt it is to do with refresh rate, it is more than likely faulty, but anyway...
What model is your Viewsonic monitor?
What is the resolution and refresh rate you are running it at? (Right click on your desktop, select Properties, Settings (note the screen resolution), Advanced, Monitor)
Also go to: EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Settings\ and open VideDefault.con with notepad
There should be a line at the bottom that reads renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 if it says 1, change it.Comment

Res is at 1440 by 900, running 60 hertz
This is what can up with notepad
rem * TEMP *
renderer.setFullScreen 0
renderer.fieldOfView 1
renderer.globalLodRadius 1
renderer.globalLodRadiusScaleFactor 5
console.showStats 0
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0
It could be that the card is bad but why would it run before with only BF2 but not an older game or a new one. I was able to run BF2 and SF but when I put in the complete pack it went bad.Comment

Go to My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\ and open (with notepad) each Video.con in each folder, including default, and make sure the refresh rate is 60Hz.
Or just change the line to: VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@60Hz
If the game still doesn't run, something is probably wrong with your monitor, card or some software your using with them.
Your card should have come with a DVI to VGA adaptor to fit other monitors.Comment
