Can US play against NZ player? Can't see same servers.

Noob question... sorry. I wasn't given the option to choose a server area. Are US players and NZ players on totally different servers? How do I go about finding a server we can both join or even creating a server that he can see? I have tried both.

all of the servers are universal. like, if you tell him the ip address for a server, he can connect

There's been a problem with the server browser since the game came out. Not all servers are all seen by the same players. You're best off using game-monitor.com or X-Fire to find servers.
