To keep your blood pressure within the normal range, I suggest you steer clear of the NbK server. You will be kicked and/or banned at the drop of a hat: in fact, at the admin's whim.

They were simply kicking people for random reasons and instead of calling them out on that bullsh*t like I usually would, I offered a polite suggestion. All I'm guilty of is proposing that they warn people first: after a brief interaction with the sorry excuse for an admin, I was banned.

Not interesting at all, a large majority of admins hate to be second guessed or questioned whether it be civilly or arrogantly. Even if the admin is in the process of breaking his/her own rules or contradicting, etc...

BF2 is plagued with admins like this and the usual power trippers more so than any game I have ever seen.

You have obviously never played Jedi Knight 2 or Jedi Academy. They even have admin mods that let the admins become invincible or use powers not available to other players. And you had better not kill one of them, you cheater, you. They'll ban that @$$ quicker than you can blink.

power trips man, thats all I can say. People that "volunteer" as admins obviously have a need/want for a controlling status. On the DA(Deadly Assasins) server I was constantly kicked for getting in a chopper/plane, after waiting in line, for the simple reason the admins wanted it and they had the "power" to make it happen. Just as you said, steer clear of these idiotic servers and keep that blood pressure within a healthy range.

Very few good servers left out there, that are running with no abusive admins, off-balanced rules, and a willingness to just be able to play fairly. Good luck, with a server that is populated, and has little or no problems on it.
If you do, I would add it your favorites, and populate that.
Most clans tend take their servers down when they see they are not being used or played on.

To put it bluntly, you will always find games with poor administrators, no matter where you go.

Second of all, not everyone that volunteers for an admin position simply wants to go on a power trip. That's a sweeping generalization that people make when they get abused by the fraction of that percent of the total administrators out there, and you insult those administrators who actually take the time to do it seriously. When I administrated 64 player Sharqi servers and Wake servers, well, we didn't really have time to ever play the game anymore. You sit around, waiting for people to TK for the choppers, which they do. You sit around waiting for the fool to come up and just start stabbing teammates in the back for no reason, which they do. And then, you just sit around waiting for some fool to come up and start spamming "Enemy boat spotted!" in the middle of the Construction Site. Having no one to administrate these large servers would be extremely detremental to everyone involved (trust me, I dealt with it first hand), and I don't suspect that we propose paying those administrators, now would we?

I would also like to point out that the majority of the staff of this site is made up of volunteers, but albeit ones that don't necessarily apply for the position. Believe me, if there weren't any moderators or admins here, this place would be a nightmare.


Don't get me wrong; abusive administrators are part of the scum of the gaming world, right down there above cheaters in my book. Essentially, you just need to look for places with good, competent head administrators. Around here, we (the staff) know what we can and cannot do, and we know how fine the line is. Simply put, each person with any authority needs to know the exact bounds of that authority. Likewise, the server owners or lead administrators need to make it very clear to the lower administrators where said line is located. Around here, I know that I have a little discretionary power when applying the rules of the forums, but I cannot simply issue bans for someone evading the word filter once or just simply having an opinion differing from mine. I know that if I violate this policy, I'll be kicked out of the staff faster than you can blink. The same applies to pretty much any member of this staff, and I believe they will tell you that themselves, if you ask. You'll notice that when staff here tend to get involved in discussions, at least when actually discussing the issue and not handing out friendly board rule reminders, that we leave the job of moderating the thread to other staff members; it cuts down on the potential for abuse. The same should apply in the gaming world as well, at least in my mind.

Perhaps I use TGN as the golden standard of excellence simply because it's the style of balanced-power administration that I've always been accustomed to being around.
