What`s the point of prestige anyway?

Console players do not have mods or custom maps. Therefore, to increase the play-time, they allow the 'resetting' of stats 10 times to get through the Prestige Modes. Part of it is 'bragging rights', and the other part is that Console players tend to be achievement-oriented people, so things like this appeal to them more than PC players.

IW basically put it in there to appeal to that type of player, and to increase the length of play in MP for Consoles.
