Can you get roadkills sitting in a FAV as commander?

If I sit behind the steering wheel in the FAV (not F2 position), and I find some nice place to hide, can I get roadkills via orbital strikes?

And the same question applies to the AA guns. Can I get AA kills sitting in the AA gun as Commander nuking the enemy with Orbital strikes?

I found out by accident when my Ground Defense cannon kills went up dramatically when I was sitting in one as commander that I was being credited with Rorsch kills, but I don't know if it works for other weapons or not. It didn't seem like I was getting roadkills because I ended the round with well over the 10 kills needed for the Crew Service ribbon, but did not get either it or the roadkill pin. I wasn't always in the FAV F1 seat however, had to jump out and help defend the uncap from time to time, or flip into the F2 seat. In the next round, I didn't have enough kills in the AA guns to get the pin by the time it dawned on me that maybe it would work.

    Thanks,
    DD.

I know for a fact that OS kills in a Rorsch K2-Z7 don't count as AA kills. I sat in one once on Suez Conquest and killed around 30 people in it... Didn't get a single Clear Skies pin.

It all depends on the award you got, some awards are time based(bronze), and some are kill based(silver & gold). If you received an award base on time spent in a FAV or time spent in AA(as oppossed to requirments) then yes you can get it as a commander. Also there is the question of were you under the private status, I have been awarded for ribbons and badges that I have recceived already while as a private when EA was acting goofy. It's also possible you achieved an award previous round, and EA took time to catch up.

I didn't receive an award. I had been working on my 200 kills for Ground Defense ribbon for a while, so I was noting the number periodically. Then I played Commander for a while, and was sitting in the Rorsch at the first cap in Camp Gib. Was a great spot because well away from the battle, but every once in a while the enemy would sneak past the lines and try to cap that flag. So I would just pop out of the Commander screen and blast them. None of them ever thought to check that Rorsch as they approached the flag. At any rate, my kills could have been attributed to actually blasting them with the Rorsch, but I didn't think the numbers added up at the time. So I assumed I was getting Rorsch kills attributed to me when I wracked up some Orbital Strike kills. Was I wrong?

I'm not sure but I really doubt it'll count as a roadkill if you kill someone with OS while sitting in the F1 seat in an FAV. It will most likely just go as a kill towards being in an FAV.

If you really want roadkills, get NS and use the Hachimoto to run over enemies in the hangars. Easy.

Hahahaha! Yeah, I know the *theory*. Do you know how many times I have boosted into a Bavaria hangar and gotten killed ? Too many to count! And for my troubles? Global 22 kills with the Hachimoto. It is actually the only NS award I can't seem to get.

You serious? Bridge at Remagen, every time I play as PAC I get at least TWO Wheels of Hazard Pins per round.

Bridge at Remagen works a lot better, can't manouver on Port Bavaria imo and whenever there is a MM somewhere, you are as good as dead.

You can maneuver just fine on Bavaria, think tight turns around corners. Its possible (not too easy, but not too hard) to get 3+ WoH Pins on either of those maps.

Fingulfin, I discovered your evil secret.....

According to my stats, I have played 91 rounds of Northern Strike maps. Some of those will be the "join at the last second" types when I start playing that day, but most are full rounds. During that time, I had global 22 Hachimoto kills. I started avoiding that vehicle since the second I got in it, I got killed. The only NS award I couldn't get was the Snowflake Ribbon as you need to get 40 kills + 5 road kills IAR.

However, in my last two rounds, I had 24 and 38 kills respectively, almost all of them with the Hachimoto, including 2 Wheels of Hazzard pins in the same round which gave me the ribbon. The big secret? Play as Support with the IDS. The IDS makes it ridiculously easy to get road kills in NS maps. I never had it before since Support was the last kit-type I had built up. Pick any flag, and just hide around the corner. Anything with a corridor leading to a flag is good, anything with a 90 degree corner you can hide behind. You can see enemies coming in plenty of time to get set to run them down, then just boost over them. Military Outpost in Remagen is a perfect place for road kills.

Bavaria is another map which is incredibly easy to get Wheels of Hazzard pins. Go into any port captured by the enemy and run down anyone in there. Then wait outside the port until your IDS tells you that someone is inside, and go get them. Very few players can react fast enough to shoot back if you enter on boost. It's almost tempting to stay in the port waiting for spawners, but I can't stand spawn campers even on servers where it is allowed. You can wrack up dozens of road kills just zipping between enemy controlled ports. The best ones are the ones where your team walkers have the enemy pinned inside. They all crouch around the crates so the walker can't get them, it is child's play to boost inside and run them over.

                        DD.

Oh, and one more thing, it seems you can't get the Crew Service Ribbon (10 road kills in a round) using the Hachimoto. I have long ago fulfilled the 10 hour requirement, and just got 14 road kills with the Hachimoto (2 WoH pins + Snowflake ribbon), but no Crew Service.
