Ok My fps and my ping stays the same but for some reason BF2 lags every few minutes online. I put it on comp mode for xp, changed cores to 1, updated pb and finally reinstalled bf2. All other games run fine online. Also On my old pc with Xp it ran smooth.

    im running on a

    quad core @ 3.3ghz
    2 gigs of ram
    vista 32 bit
    8800GTX

Even with a good graphics card your pc would be crying for more RAM.

oh I forgot. I have an 8800GTX superclocked and crucial ram @ 920mhz. Last time I checked the ram monitor i was using around 67-74% of total while I was playing BF2...

I mean I play COD4 online and it's really smooth...

How much memory does your card have ?

My set-up runs fine but I have a bit more memory.

            Q6600 Quad 2.4 ghz
            3 Gigs Ram
            Vista 32 bit
Nvidia 8500GT 1 Gig on-board memory (also ran fine with 512mb on previous card).

2GB should be no problem at all. More likely a defect with wireless cards. Disable Superfetch if you think it's lack of memory.

What version drivers are you using with your video card? Also are you motherboard drivers up to date and not just the default ones that Vista installs?

Again with cores shut-down ...I need to do some research on that; could someone please explain to me the benefit of that?

Only one reason really, PEBKAC; especially on Vista.

Have a look at this Vista Tweak guide to free up some memory.

I had a similar problem but when i upgrade to faster RAM everything was solved. Check your RAM is compatible with your motherboard and the right speed is set-up in the BIOS.

From what I remember, not too many were impressed with the 163.75. Not going to do the research for you but have a look around on these two sites,

and see what seems to be working best for others and try them yourself.

If Abit is anything like Asus, I wouldn't count on it. Check the chipset manufacturer's site instead (Nvidia, Via, etc).
