    Choppy performance in multiplayer only

    Hi

I'm having a problem with this game only in the multiplayer mode. My computer specs are:

    Intel E6750 2.66 ghz
    2 gb OCZ 1066 mhz
    Asus p5k-e mobo
    ATi Radeon HD3870

The thing is that the singleplayer mode runs PERFECTLY with almost all settings in high and I get really really great performance, however in multiplayer mode it is terrible, everything runs choppy and it is very difficult to even move the mouse in the menu. From the menu to the map is slow, very slow (like 2 fps). I tried changing the priority for the process to high and that worked but that's an annoying workaround. I would like to fix it for good but couldn't find any info on this.

So, singleplayer works perfect and multiplayer works like bleep and I have a powerful enough PC to run everything on high.

    Please help!!!

I'm confused, are you getting lag from connection speed or are you lagging with bad frame rates?

I have 'choppiness' during the first 10 minutes of a round. I believe that there might be a swap file or some other file being written to the HDD which causes this. Once my drive activity dies out, my game performance is solid.

I'm not 100% about this, so it would be good to hear from others.

I see some cursor lag while the game initially starts up, but that last less than 30 seconds.

I think it was in battlefield where it at times could improve performance if you did a 360 degree spin, because you forced the game to cache all graphics at once instead of gradually.

Maybe you are seeing this choppiness because it is still loading data to your graphics cache?

Well, I can sure tell that something large is being written to my drive. It would make sense that it would be map or game data of some kind.

I just registered here to ask about the same problem, it just started doing that to me, and I have no clue why. I run single player with the graphics all the way up and it runs fine, and then on multiplayer the cursor is laggy and what not. What is really odd is that it just started doing this about a day ago.

              My computer specs:
              Intel Core2 E6750
              EVGA 8800GT Superclocked
              2x1 Gig Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
              Asus P5E Motherboard

What has worked for a number of people, myself included, is going into your grahpics settings and changing the second texture option from "AUTOMATIC" to MANUAL and then lowering down the settings a little.

Someone mentioned to me that AUTOMATIC means the game will check out our video card and run it as high as it can go, regardless of anything else goin on. I dont know if its true or not, but when I did it, it increased my FPS from 20 to 45. Another person it stopped the lag when jets bombed.

When I built a new system, I didnt have to do that anymore.

If you are having the 2 or 3 second freezes, kind of like a big lag spike go here: http://www.rk-clan.net/home/news.php make an account, then go to the forums and look for the COD4 mods/tools forum and download the anti freeze fix. Those freezes drove me nuts the last 2 weeks but since i applied the anti freeze everything seems right again. It is also PB safe and can be removed without losing your acct data if it doesn't fix you up.
