Microphone question

This probly noob question....
But when i try to talk in BF2 in a squad i pretty shore no one can hear me, also when i press the 'b' button to talk i dont geet that "beep" noise that you get when you talk but i get the speaker symbol.

I just got a new microphone its a ps2 itoy microphone, i know it should work as it works on ventrillo and its my frineds and it worked for him.
So do i need BF2 to recognise i have a new microphone or what??

Check sounds under control panel you should see a tab called voice check the the gain is tunred up. You can also check the Line-in proporties. (Quick reply from memory)

yu shouldnt get a "beep" when yu press the "b", only when you talk to commander "V" shall yu get a screetching radio sound. also make sure VOIP is enabled in bf2, AND the server, in bf2 options u got like a test sound, check that! whats your soundcard?
