    Diving?

I've seen this heaps in BF2, and have recently begun to see it in 2142. What someone does, is they go prone, and while doing so, roll to the left or right.

How do you do this, and is there a particular benefit to doing so?

Thats just the animation attributed to going prone, there is no way to do it, its random.

Its an effective tactic in BF2 (thats what makes BF2 infantry combat lame) but in 2142 if you try and dolphin dive you're a dead man.

EDIT: My mistake, it happens when you go prone when side stepping... I think... maybe... eh feck it don't quote me.

Yeah it's so much fun watching 2142 nubs drop to the ground instantly as I come around the corner. It works pretty well with clark though.

:O do you mean like when strafing right or left then do prone that you roll? hmm well ive seen it before in bf2 and even 2142 has those animations but it doesnt use them (although my mod does )

Yes, this deathroll is back. Mostly say at 2142tracker that the 1.40 patch bring it into the game. :)

Rolling Eh? I have seen it twice in 2142 (both before 1.4), and when I went and played BF2 for a week I was amazed at how much it goes on... Probably because dropping to prone is the ONLY way to fight in that game :p

I've only seen it 3 times ever. It's like a commando role. Probably happens at random occasions, or else we would see it more often...

I think the reason we don't see it often is that, unlike BF2, people don't prone while moving very often in 2142. It truly is not profitable to dive while shooting/moving... Dang, its not even profitable to shoot while moving :p Unless you are using the shotgun, but thats another story.

The prone in bf2 was different since it'd actually give you great accuracy while diving and at the same time making it harder for the other person to hit you. Its nowhere near the same in 2142 as it is in BF2 and I used to see it a lot when people were migrating over from bf2 into 2142 and I still see it frequently but not as much as bf2 since crouch spamming in 2142 is the new way to dive.

Yeah but crouch spamming is at least a little bit more realistic :)

The only gun you stand a chance of killing people with whilst going prone is the voss as if you shoot that gun without aiming it is strangely accurate lol.

best way of shooting in bf 2142 is shooting and crouching at the same time+making your mouse a bit versus back so you can control a bit the recoil of the gun ,this way make your gun very accurate... but sometimes prone in certain situations, like after a jump, can save your ash but never shoot enemys 2 metres away from you without aiming to the head when you are proned cause his bullet proof take the most damage(cause you shoot from down to up) and he easily shoting you to the head without aiming (cause he shoot from up to down)and he kills you first...

                            cheers

Funny enough I find that that drop down and spray tactic works best against the shotgunners who can't wield it properly (the new breed of bangbang spammers). It's difficult for an assault player to come out of top in an "in your face" situation with a clark, and to increase your movement by a twisting dive is your best chance out of it - generally DOESN'T work against someone who knows what they're doing, but I'll take the 50/50.

I do wish the animation would happen more often, I do like it
