Patch Not Starting

So I just re-downloaded the 1.40 patch because I installed Northern Strike. Well, I double clicked on the page, got the stupid "Decline" and "Allow" message from Vista, so I clicked "Allow."

Well, I waited.. but nothing showed up, the patch didn't even start up. I tried it several more times but nothing. I also tried running it in compatibility with Windows 2000 and Windows XP (SP2) but those didn't work either. I even checked the "Run this as administrator." box and it didn't help.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? The patch was downloaded from filefront, and it's not the beta, it's the final release.

That sounds like the radial bug. You won't find anything from EA. Check out this post how to fix it in the battlefield 2142 discussion:

It happens frequently after the 1.40 final patch.

No, I can't start the Patch. My BF2142 is updated to 1.40 and has no problems, but NS isn't updated to 1.40. So, I tried re-installing the patch but it won't appear. It shows up in the task manage and then just disappears.

I see. It might depend on where you got the patch then. There were some sites offering a 1.40 patch update that wasn't then correct one. If the unlocks, ribbons, other ones show up in your BFHQ then they are installed. NS is an add on and might not need updating. As long as the maps show up.

It need updating. It said "UPDATE AVAILABLE!!!" after I installed it. And, when I try to play NS it says I have "unmodified content, revert to...." so I think I do need to update it. I'll try re-downloading the patch from somewhere else.
