I'm just starting to play BF2 and noticed there are a few mods out there. Can someone tell me which are the most populated/best to play?

Project Reality is most populated. May not cater to all.

PR is the most popular mod and imo also the best. But its nothing like vanilla BF2, so you should REALLY read the manual or the wiki at realitymod.com before playing.

How about Forgotten Hope? Looks like it would be good for a change if the modern combat get's stale.

In less than a month, it lost more than 90% of its players. Its the final proof that you cant make a successful mod for BF2, if you stick to the mechanics that make BF2 so good in the first place. And before you say PR is a success. It has 200+ players online. Thats hardly "success". Thats "breathing".

Good mods arent played. Back to the drawing board, to figure out why.

That might be coz FH2 isnt really something new. Yes it has alots of new stuff, but when i played it, it just felt as BF2... PR on the other hand is much more different if not unique isbecoming more and more popular actually Wich is kinda a good thing

Also, 170 players is actually more than enough.

Not really. Same flag hopping, just more bells and whistles, made of copper instead of iron.

Which is why there are 200+ people playing it, instead of 2000.

For an average gamer, there is no incentive to download a mod, that in its very basics, plays just like vBF2.

There are great mods out for BF2 but hardly anyone plays them. I've DLd them all, but there is hardly anyone to ever play against...

After waiting so long for these mods to release and after so much effort being put into them, it is a shame that more folks don't seem to enjoy them.

So, I play Allied Intent Xtended which is primarily a single player mod.
