... hit the multiplayer tab, or try to load a single player map.

System: 512 8800GT, E6750 processor, and 2 gigs of DDR2 ram.

I've tried new drivers, old drivers, reinstalling, and a lot more. X_X

I should note that this only seems to happen after the latest patch.

Try deleting your 2142 cache files?

Did you install any of the booster packs after installing the patch?
Maybe try re-installing the patch, download it from somewhere else if need be.

I have deleted my cache, and have downloaded the patch from many different sources, including all the ones on EA's site.

I noticed it said "patch failed" when installing each time, yet right after that it says it installed.

Try to launch the game from a clean boot as per the instructions here;

If that doesn't help do a clean or repair install of your XP/Vista.

I think there is a patch log file you can look in that might tell you the problem.
It will either be in the Battlefield folder in My Documents or Program Files.
Also make sure you have at least 3.0GB free space on your C: drive.
