Hardcore - could do with a 'own' team display

Been playing a bit of hardcore recentlly, and really quite enjoying it.

Only thing the, especially on objective type game modes is the inability to have a fix on your team mates to co-ordinate well.

I know it is hardcore, but to emulate the battlefield of a modern soldier with battlecomms, radio support, real squads and tactics, it would be nice to be able, to see for example on the minimap, your own players, and not enemies or at least a cod1/2 compass showing their direction.

Defo would aid to the gameplay I think.

I agree, I think it makes it difficult to have teamwork when you have no idea where your team are.

I believe a squad system would be useful, like BF2 except the minimap only shows the position of your squad mates. And maybe the squad leader can only see the position of you and other squad leaders?

I believe IW should have made more effort on using the VOIP system tbh.

Personally i think it should be left alone, like you said its hardcore and its supposed to be hard. I quite like the idea that when you hear a noise you dont know who the hell it is.

Need to know where your team is? Hit escape, pulls up a map showing the position of all your teamates, I set mine to toggle on tab, so I can view the map while I hold tab and then it goes away when I let go.

Also, quick tip, on HC TDM it can be easy to lose the other team if there is no UAV, check the map. Wherever the bulk of your team is located, the other team will spawn on the exact opposite, if you're in the northeast corner, they spawn southwest.

Works great if your team works their way across the map and you want to cut back and flank them.

It's hardcore, you shouldn't have the map on screen anyways. A squad system would be cool, but no map. Like previously said, press escape

Squad play is key for any team game, the problem is the maps are so small. Best way to handle it would be make squads available with a max of 2 or 3 people, then make the squad leader a spawn beacon, not really a spawn point. What would happen is you would spawn at the standard spawn point CLOSEST to the squad leader at the time you spawn, that way you don't just respawn in a tactical position, if the SL ducks behind a dumpster it's not really fair that within seconds he had 2 other guns right next to him.

                    damn, didnt know that.

Thats my new thing learned for today... problem solved, thank you :salute:

And agreed VOIP system could be better and squad integration would have been great.

HC is too rushed imho and it doesn`t take as much skill as people say. You can just camp and outscore, live everyone if you`re even fairly good.

Some hud, gameplay changes other than just amping the damage would be good.

Doesn't that describe every game mode in COD4?
