7600GT to 8800GT = No Difference

Hey, I just switched from a 7600gt to an 8800gt and I barely see a difference in FPS/performance! I mean on Timeless Titan/Suez I still get 15-20 FPS when the titans are close to each other.

Is thee any way to fix this, or is 2142 just badly optimized? Hell, I can run Crysis on Ultra High with no lag, but I can't run BF2142 on max without lagging like sh1t.

My other specs are a Pentium D 3.2 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. On XP btw.

Yeah, uh, that would bottleneck a 7600GT alone.


Jack up the resolution, graphics quality and AA levels.

But, then they realise the rest of their PC is average, and the upgrade in the card only makes the lag look nice.

Uh, I dunno how it "bottlenecks" the 8800GT if I can play any game I throw at it on max.

And I took Crysis as an example seeing how it's a GPU intensive game. If you want me to list more games I can play on max RKO it'd be my pleasure.

Actually, they are. Just had to update my drivers. Everything seems fine now :)

I don't see how the hell you can run crysis on ultra high with no lag on a 8800GT..
I've got an 8800GTX, 2.2 inter core 2 duo, and 2gb ram and i can only play it on medium-high without lagging.

My buddy has an 8800 Ultra, 3gb ram, and a 2.6 quad core, and he JUST gets everything on high.

I do very High in Crysis on a 8800GT

but its at 1024*768, so nothing special 20-25 fps (when there is no water)

I recommend you clear out your BF2142 cache, defrag your hard drive, manually update PB, make sure you have the latest drivers for your new video card and then check out http://bf2lag.com (Some of the recommendation are BF2 specific, but most you can use in BF2142).
