    who knows, EA/Dice have the resources (to make it good tho is the question)

    i mean the engine has been developed, and who knows how long the pc version has been in production for

    But it still seems fishy, but thats probably more to do with EA not saying anything, probably waiting for teh hype machine

              I think even EA are smart enough to know that releasing Vista only is a terrible idea

                Microsoft did it with Halo 2 and I see lots of copies collecting dust on store shelves. :laugh:

                  from the link here but its copy pasted below...the one that stood out the most was
                  * Possible public beta in "Summer 2008??

                  sounds like a website is ripping off customers lol about the pre order

                  October 10, 2007 - Battlefield 2142 was released in October of last year, and Battlefield: Bad Company is set to arrive in early 2008. DigitalBattle is reporting it has been forwarded an internal document that may be the first details on an unannounced Battlefield game, possibly Battlefield 3.

                  DigitalBattle says the document, a PDF file, seems to be targeted towards investors and lists a set of game features:

                  * Release in late 2008
                  * Powered by "Frostbite DX"
                  * Set in year modern day
                  * Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
                  * Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
                  * Same "ticket-based" gameplay style as before
                  * Maps are mostly urban, based in Middle East
                  * Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are "Battalions" which consist of three to four squads.
                  * Five playable classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support
                  * Will feature 48 different vehicles (24 for each faction)
                  * Will feature 34 different weapons (17 for each faction) and another 22 unlocks (for both factions), in total 56 different weapons.
                  * Other unlocks include different types of ammunition, body armor, helmets, camouflage and accessories.
                  * Possible public beta in "Summer 2008??
                  * Online stats tracking, awards and "real world ranks"
                  * "Soldier" feature, looks like MMO-styled characters and avatars
                  * Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships
                  * In-game replay and recording feature
                  * VoIP, friends list, in-game IM-client and "extensive clan support"
                  * Built-in auto software updater
                  * Widows Vista and OS X
                  * Announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008.

                    People.... companies like EA purposely leak this kind of data to build hype.

                    Look how many BF3 threads there are. Don't say it's not working!

                      Indeed, its what they want

                      Halo 2 was a port of an already crap game, the port also was dire in every way.
                      As far as I can see BF3 is not a port, it might use the same engine as Bad Company w/e but who knows how long they have been making BF3 for

                      The Vista issue is pretty plain to see, EA wants money, its pretty much all they care about nowadays now if they made the game Vista only they would lose ALOT of money in potential sales and that is something they simply arent going to do (unless Microsoft has payed them or something ludicrous lol)

                      I think the point on vista was more to do with stable Vista compatibility, maybe dx10 features (unlikely) or the engine can utilise Vista features but still run fine on Xp

                        As far as I'm concerned BF3's engine is gonna be "Frostbite DX" which will run on directx 10 only, hence the name. It's the upgraded engine for BF:BC and if you've seen previews of that game it's looks awesome. And that is for a console game which rarely have better graphics than PC games.

                        If the rumours are true.

                        Vista is great btw :p

                                Wikipedia also can't be used as a valid source. Even though I wish it could. Damn you colleges!
