game controls not working after loading

my game runs fine loading up and even when i select server but when the map is loaded and after i click join game, the mouse and the keyboard buttons freeze, the game continues to run but i cant do anything
i cant even press ESC, but stuff like ALT+F4 work and CTRL+ALT+DEL also work...

any help will be much appreciated.

go to options > controls and reset everything to default

Yeah, the controls need to be reset. The clear themselves sometimes, completely random as far as I can see.

i just had this problem too and resetting to defaults fixed it!
