Crash during loading - New Problem

Hi all. I have been running BF2 fine for about 5 months without a problem, but it seems my luck has run out. Yesterday I tried a game(SP) and it crashed to desktop when the map was at about 48% loaded, or when it started loading geometrics. I have searched for solutions elsewhere, but none of the problems seem relevant to me. I am running Vista with a Geforce Go 6150, and BF2 is completely patched. I do no think this is relevant as it was workign fine a couple of days ago and chooses now to stop, and all that has changed is running Disk Error-Checking on C:. I have tried reinstalling BF2 with no success. Any help appreciated!! :)

I also just noticed that it loads the wrong map sometimes eg. i tried loading Strike At Karkand to see if it only crashed on certain maps, and it started loading Dragon Valley, then crashed...Also my settings for crosshair colour keep reverting to red even when I change it. Coincidence?

Edit: I reinstalled BF2 again without patching it, and it worked fine. As soon as I patched it to 1.41 I got the crashes. Looks like Ill have to download the patch again. Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Definitely D/L a new copy of the patch from somewhere. That should fix it.

Hmm. Tried a fresh DL of the patch adn reinstall game, still no success. From reading similar problems it seems it could be to do with profile settings, and everytime I uninstall/reinstall the same profiles are there so maybe I will try deleting the BF2 folder in My Documents then reinstalling. For the 4th time.

Got it. :yay: Had to delete the BF2 folder in My Documents, which was hard because it was telling me I didn't have access to the folder despite being an admin etc. Hope this helps others.
