Not today. But all the pins and dogtags you earned if you played between Thursday and Sunday did not count.... That's what the fuss was about.

What? This is the World of Warcraft syndrome, you're not playing for the enjoyment you're playing for numbers. Bad for the heart.

Stats are what make the game good.

Seconded. Stats are why I play Battlefield rather than Counterstrike.

Yea, but stats have a downside. In ole 1942 (I own all 3) The guys are the happiest little things you've seen, and when they get killed they can say things like "nice shot" Unlike stats, everyone is your enemy, you think about your K/D every time you die, its a two sided thing, more worth less enjoyment, but I myself prefer stats.

Looks like EA may have been catching the stats up maybe. Yesterday(& past week) my armor kill have showed as 6558, today it shows as 6596 kills(still owed about 1200 more, and another 900 air kills as well), so the stats are starting to show up, but none of the awards I have won are showing up yet.

If stats are the only thing that make the game good for some people then I'm baffled because I could play this quite happily without stats, infact I might even enjoy it more. Right now my K/D is 2.89 and kd scores like 30 kills and 17 deaths are not acceptable, it would have to be 30 kills and 7 deaths before I was satisfied.... stats are drugs and drugs are bad mmk?

i use stats to set myself targets.. for instance i have 22000 plus knife kills. i am aiming for 23000 without hitting 400 tag losses as im on 386 or 387 deaths.

makes it more fun for me:)

                          each to their own though

That's interesting. I have exactly 5 knife kills. I find that even when crouched, I am right behind a guy who is looking the other way, I swing ... and nothing. I have swung 4 times at some guys who eventually turn around and blow my head off. Fortunately this works two ways. The other day I was defending the inner bridge flag playing Suez Conquest, blasting away at the enemy while lying prone. I kept hearing the familiar knife swing sound, but was concentrating on killing this one guy. Finally I turned around and this guy was lying right on top of me. He must have swung at least 4 times before I emptied my clip into his face.

So even when I am close, and the enemy is facing away, I never want to risk knifing because as far as I can see, there must be some magic way to do it but it sure isn't how I would if it were the real world. In my humble opinion, if you are close enough to the enemy (ie. directly behind him) and he is facing the other way, and you swing with your knife, it should be an automatic kill.

Ah well, guess I suck with the knife.

                            DD.

                              I guess so :|:

I never really found knifing to be difficult... Approach someone, swing, tags.

Within 4 days of play BF2, I got my Knife Badge Gold :p I dunno, I guess its just habit that whenever I see someone with their back turned I stick my knife into em'.

I have watched some knifing vids on youtube. It seems you are more successful if you are twice the length of your arm away from your target. Guys have told me to treat it like a gun instead of a knife, get no closer than you would want to get to avoid splatter (if you could get splattered that is), and then knife. I'll have to give it a try...
