    major decision..Intel or AMD?

    HELP!!!

Longtime computer user here(since before 1980 yet).......about to upgarde my system in a major way.

But i'm stuck on which way to go.I stopped using Intel 10 years ago swearing i'd never go back to them and have used AMD system's ever since and loved them.
I'm leaning that way again but I'm intrigued with the Intel core2 which leaves me to make a major decision on which really is the way to go.This next upgrade will at least last 3 yrs I'm thinking so I want to be absolutely sure I make the right choice.

The Core2duo's sound awesome with thier ability to overclock but being a loyal fan of AMD i kinda like the new 6400+ Black Edition core.

Any advice from both sides would be appreciated.

I'm still running an AMD XP 2500+ overclocked to the equivilent of a 3200.....AGP still....and ATA drive.....(yes I know ancient but still runs most stuff very good)

I would say intel,im sure the be edition of the 6400 looks nice, but you wont get a lot of overclocking headroom on it.The core 2 duos are great overlcokers, you can get a low range core 2 liek a e6300 and crank that thing to around 3 ghz or more.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between the stock AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+ and Intel core 2 duo E6750, in price or performance, but if you want a faster chip, it's going to have to be intel.

yeah as much as i want to support the underdog, ya gotta go with intel if you want performance.

          thanks for the input fellas

          Settled on this system.....Asus Striker Extreme...Intel 6750...HyperX 8500(2x1gig sticks) and a BFG 8800 GTS superclocked video card...Seagate 500 gig HD.....plus a 750 watt PS.
Heard that the Striker has SATA driver issues but I;m sure they have been resloved with the latest driver update and latest BIOS.
