problems with reinstalation

I had a previous problem unlocking the weapons from spec. forces and when i uninstalled BF2 to try and fix the problem, it only made it worse. When i try to instal BF2 it tells me that it has failed to instal and to retry from the beginning when it gets about 1/5th of the way through at xpaxk/common client or something like that. Any help?

If the disk is clean and undamaged, then maybe some background programs are causing the problem.
Try shutting down any programs that don't need to be running, including AV and firewall, or try installing in safe mode.

and install in a different location than the last time time you installed to be safe
