Questions about Punkbuster

I have Punkbuster A and Punkbuster B running in background every time I booted up the machine. Can I remove them if I am not playing CoD4?

Just now I have been kicked by one of the servers, the error messages are as follows:

Reubenjames PunkBuster kicked player
'Reubenjames'(for 0 minutes)...PB INIT FAILURE

What is going on?

try manually updating your PB using PB setup.

Just leave it running, it shouldn't cause performance issues. Unless you like getting kicked from a MP game.

And manually update PB as well, which is what I had to after installing CoD4 on my newest PC

To go a little further, any game running PB needs to have that running in the background. Updating PB "should" correct your problem.

If you are a streamline gamer, like me, you can open your Services and actually set it to MANUAL and turn them on prior to playing games.

Thats a bit of a hassle though. You could make a batch file that would start the services then launch your games
