    CD-Key to a Stranger

    Well, I'm appealing a ban from a server, they need my CD-Key, is this safe? :|:

    No, I don't think that's safe. They could use the key to get your key banned.
    But, honestly, I have no idea...
    I would guess they can unban you without having your key.

        There is no reason why they need a key to unban you. If anything report this to EA.

          Or look at it this way, someone asks you for your cd-key you tell them where to go and how to get there.

          BTW, you sure it isn't hash instead of key?

              It's for "RubberDucky gaming".

              I think the problem is that nobody has any idea when I was banned, what I was banned for, who banned me, and the name that I was banned under. After a few guesses for possible names, I've been told I need to provide a CD-Key .

                All they need is your GUID.

                To find out your GUID;
                1. Start up BF2 and connect to the account server using one of your gaming accounts (doesn't matter which one).
                2. Make sure PunkBuster is enabled in-game and connect to a PB enabled server.
                3. Open the console by pressing the tilda key (key above TAB next to number 1) or #.
                4. Then type pb_myguid into the console, write the 32 digit code down, then send it to the guys asking for it .

                  ^^ Repulse is correct and giving out your GUID is safe.

                    If they banned you with BF2CC, they don't even need the GUID. If they banned with PB or if you were banned by PsB or PBBans, then they will need the GUID, but certianly not the CD Key.

                      Although not as serious, think of it like giving away our SS number to someone. They can use it to screw you over, and they more than likely don't need it (in this case, they definitely don't need it). Not worth even trying I would say.
