COD4 causing internet connection to disconnect

After booting into XP, verifying that my internet works by browsing the web a little, I start COD4, sucessfully load the servers, then when I try to connect it times out after 10 seconds and can't connect.

I can see this is a common problem, however, if I close the game and go to open IE, I have no internet connection.

Rebooting is the only way to get it back.

PB is manually updated, and the game is running latest version.

any ideas?

It's a bug in COD 4 that IW needs to fix. Not much you can do. It's been causing lots of people to lose their internet connection.

Ok, but I see others with network issues and this game. I'll give you that.

However, I do not think there are many others with the same exact problem I am having because no one would be playing.

It happens EVERY TIME I JOIN A SERVER! not intermitant.

After playing around more, I notice that the first time I load the game, refresh the server list, I can sometimes connect to a game, but if I leave that game, I cannot connect to a different one. And, as I say, it also completely disconnects me from the internet to where my browser doesn't even work until I reboot.

It seems like a progressing problem because I can sometimes get into a server the very first time. Mind you, every server I've actually made it into, I have <25 ping the entire time.

I can't even play online anymore. What is the deal!
