Freezing about 10 mins into a game everytime

Hi guys!

I just installed bf2 on my new computer and everything installed fine but it seems that i cant finish a game, it keeps freezing on me, you know the whole screen freeze (obviously), music gets stuck and repeats VERY quickly and i cant even use the old ctrl+alt+delete to minimise.

Is it just a crook install n i need to re-install?

Spec are as follows:

CPU: E4600 OC'd to 3.2Ghz
RAM: Dual channel Corsair XMS2 800Mhz (2GB)
MB: Asus P5K Delux
PSU: 650W Corsair
Video: 512Mb HIS Radeon IceQ 3 X1950 turbo edition
HDD: 2x 250GB SATA western digital
Case: Sunbeamtech UV case with 5 fans
CPU Fan: Coolermaster but unknown what type. Has very fine fins and 4 copper pipes

I have has this machine running it before with no worries but i just upgraded the CPU from a P4 3.2 HT and a Foxconn board to this, yet i never had any problems with the setup before? CPU temp while in game is around 28C... i thought that was pretty good am i wrong?

Still think reinstalling is the way to go?

Oh! I install all my games on the secondary HDD, not the one which has the OS. Would this matter?

28C means 82F. That's pretty cool ingame, even for a cold room or a liquid-cooled system. Put it back to the factory settings in the BIOS. Put all of your overclocks back. Reinstall. If it works, you can try to overclock until Prime95 starts to crash before one hour of testing. When Prime95 crashes or has an error, back it off one setting, then leave it.
Also, take note of your CPU and RAM voltages and see if they are stable.

OC'd the Vcore was about 1.23v
MB was 32C
CPU was 29C
Chassis fan was 850RPM
CPU sat on about 1400RPM

I have returned everything back to normal and am in the middle of re-installing bf2 as i type. Would you have any recomended voltages for an oc'd CPU like mine to that level BPCrusher?

Its back to stock and its all been installed and updated. I also updated my video drivers and still no go. Except i got near to the end of the round this time before it froze...

Any ideas?

That leads me to believe that it is a hardware issue, not software. Does it freeze after being used heavily for a certain time, or at a certain point in the round? Do any other programs crash?

Try running a torture test on Prime95 for at least an hour. If you have any stability issues, this will bring them out.

For the recommended CPU voltages, consult some pro sites, maybe tomshardware.com. Dig around a bit, since I am no Intel expert, I just fix Intel computers kidding

A second though, try running memtest86 on your RAM, just to rule that out. Google it to get the iso and burn the image to a disc.

I already have the program, im not as qualified as you (havent got any qualifications) but i know my way around computers better then the average person, though overclocking is still rather new to me.

I installed STALKER and turned up everything, was jerky but i managed to play it for half an hour like that and it didnt freeze. It doesnt seem to freeze at all in any other programs.

I used memtest before and after i installed the new board, came back a-ok... Anything else you can think of?

DId you reformat after upgrading your mobo/CPU?

Yes i did, legit XP Pro... Both the HDD's

Are you running 4-4-4 latency on the RAM? Try backing it off to 5-5-5 just to see if it helps any. It probably won't but its worth a shot. Try backing off the CAS latency too. Also make sure that your RAM is getting enough voltage. Some MoBos/RAM use ~1.8v, some use ~2.2v. CHECK YOUR SPECS BEFORE YOU DO THIS. The recommended voltages should be listed in the product documentation.

Also: open the command prompt, type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. This will check windows file integrity. A long shot, but its easy to check.
