Beam me up Scotty....and other BF2 wierdness

Whilst playing Gulf of Oman last night something really odd happened. I was going up from the boat bay spawn point on the USMC carrier to the flight deck when a couple of steps up the second flight of stairs....boink....I suddenly materialize right in the middle of the aft flight deck! Wierd....

Anybody else experienced any other such odd/amusing happenings in BF2?

Happaned to me on wake once... I was sneaking on the carrier and walked tru a door in one of the lower floors on the carrier when i suddenly appeared on the top

that was on dalian CB, a popular server lol, got banned from there, was laggy as hell anyways

Yeah I've done the teleport thing on Wake. It would be pretty useful if anyone actually knew how to recreate it.

Well I noticed something on Sandbox on the map clearing. out in the mountains there is this hole (which I dubbed the scarlac pit because it reminded me of that thing on Star Wars). Anyways you could drive a vehicle down there and sometimes when you hit the bottom you would not blow up but there was not enough room down there for the jeep to really fit so it would keep shaking around untill it either blew up or teleported high above some random part of the map spinning very fast.

What you experienced was probably a polygonal glitch.

We used to see this A LOT back in the Far Cry days. We could get to places that we weren't actually meant to be, and walk through doors we weren't meant to go through. What happened when you did this, was you would fall in to the level endlessly. If the level was based on land that was surrounded by water, you'd be falling through water.

I would assume this would be the same thing. The vehicle ended up glitching through the map and started falling inside of the skybox. If you've ever tried making your own map for any game, you would probably understand this a little better. I dunno, I'm not too good at explaining things. :P

Funny thing is when there is 'server lag' and the bodys hang in the air for ages.

Pred, that was a most entertaining video, heh. Gotta love glitches like that I suppose.

Perhaps the server needed a reboot. I had instances of my character just randomly dying on Dalian every time I would get to the US carrier (as Chinese), but I assumed it was an admin killing me (only to learn that admins can't do that).
