Router and connecting

I just hooked up a router, so me and my bro can play. But he is the only one that can get in. im stuck at connecting to account server, and when im there it doesn't do anything for most the time. i'll find myself ctrl alt deleting out of it, and when i do my task manager says its not even responding. I have a linksys router hooked up, with no ports opened.

k will need more info, who has the router connected to their PC, whos wireless? or both to PC, can you browse the net?

I have the router comming from my modem and connecting to me and my bro. my bro that is in the second slot of the router is getting online, i am in the first slot, and i can't connect to the account server.
Its a wired router. Also i just tried this approach, and i still had the same results..

I also disabled my windows firewall, and turned off my antivirus program, and im still unable to connect to account server. I am completely lost.

Okay, u need to open back up windows firewall if that is what you use and make Battlefield 2 allowed on its list because when u close down ur firewall the ports are still going to be blocked. I suggest u ditch Windows firewall and download this. http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...zaSetup_en.exe Click this link and u will download a free version of the zone alarm firewall which is really good for a free version. When u run a game or something it will ask for permssion to use for the internet or local are and u click the check box to remember the setting and say allow and your done. But if you install this u have to shut off windows firewall. Let me know if this helps u

Even though my firewall was still shut down, i have bf2 allowed in my firewall options. Will it still block me? Or should i get Zone alarm? But bf2 is being allowed by my firewall. my firewall just isn't turned on.

I dont know much about windows firewall but i do know zone alarm is very easy to use so i suggest u try to use it and shut down windows. I personally dont need to forward ports to play the game only to host a server so i dont know if u need ports to be forwarded. Tell me if zone alarm makes it work. Also which anti virus program do u use?

I got zone alarm installed, and im allowing bf2. when i try to sign in it won't say unable to connect, it freezes my game. when i hit ctrl alt delete it says that my game isn't responding.

ok, its simple uh i hate typing this out. Unintall the game, go to My documents and delete the Battlefield 2 folder if it is still there. Then go to program files->EA games and delete the Battlefield 2 folder if it is still there. Then re-install the game. Redownload 1.41 patch but make sure nothign else it running just to make sure the file doesnt get corrupted at all. Then reinstall the patch. Do any restarts required. then try playing the game. If this doesnt work then i give up.

ok heres the deal. I plugged straight into the modem and tried bf2, and it worked great. now when i plug into the router its the same story. connecting to account server..... and i basically need to ctrl alt delete out because its not responding. not only can i not get on bf2, after trying to connect to bf2 my internet will be on and off for a little bit. this is really weird. i use a linksys router with no ports opened currently.

okay wait a minute, u have two pieces to the internet a router and a modem, k. What is ur brother's computer configuration? and i suggest this cause it happens to me also. Go to start->control panel and if ur control panel is in classic view then go to network connections. If it is in category go to network and internet connections then network connections Since it sounds like u are running on ethernet u should see local area connection. Right click on it and select repair. Then try. If not then disable and re-enable it. My cable company has the cables that go into my router go from 4 to 1. So when it was one computer it was in port 4. Now there are 3 so the cables go in ports 4,3,& 2 Try switching ur cable into a different port than the one u are using. Tell me if any of this fixes it.
