CD key already registered with account?

Well i had this convo with my mate Animal_01 he was on this forums a time ago and this is what he says.

[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: uhmm..
[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: just that i start up game, and reach the login screen, i enter my username and password
[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: it says contacting EA master server
[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: then comes up with
[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: CD key has already been registered with an account
[11:46] -=KRT=-{RT} Animal: any ideas on what to do?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's not going to work. Same message will appear. Tell him to contact EA Support about the problem. They should be able to help him out.

Is he sure that he is imputing the right details; i.e. Username and Password?
Has he bought a second had copy of 2142?
Is he PC secure; i.e. does he have any malware on his PC that could have stolen\altered his CD key?
If all else fails, try contacting EA Support
