So goddam frustrating

After playing bf2 for years on years and nearly getting to 2 stars rank i built my own computer for xmas..and my bro got me cod4... so i rejoined my old clan because they started a cod4 section and started playing with them...but oh my fvcking god..this game is ridicoulously hard...all my friends are awesome..they all know where to look..quick movements..im like a duck out of water..i thought i could of at least held a good 1:2 kd ratio..but omfg its so hard just to get more kills than deaths...its so goddam frustrating...especially since you die..ALOT more than bf2...

I used to get angry with bf2 when i had about 40 odd kills and a few deaths..but my anger is really tested whislt playing cod4...so hard to get used to..and all the goodamn perks...UAV jammer and whatnot...ridiculous...

Please comment..and give helpful hints if you can

Umm, stick with your team. Listen on TS, learn the maps. get good with one gun, and stick with it. you should be good.

I can understand exactly what you mean. By the rank of 55, youll at least stick at 1:1 KDR consistently. Watch a lot of COD4 frag videos, watch how your clanmates play. Ask them for advice. Dont expect to be good until youve got at least about 50 hours invested (Id say 100, personally).

and play on hardcore mode.I played hardcore exclusively up to 55 then went on a regular server and got completely owned.Cant stand having to put 10 p90 rounds or 2 or 3 bursts of m16 into someone.

I came from BF2 too and it is really different. You can't run and gun as much, you need to be more cautious when running into a room or out in the open.

I'm not a hard core fan, so I don't agree with that opinion. But, my advice to you is to never give up. I play with some really good players who consistently pwn me to frustration. However, I totally own in the pubs now because of their daily abuse...

Take the punishment your buddies dish out and learn to give it back to them. And don't start thinking like so many do that "this weapon" or "that perk" is noobish... they are all part of a very well-balanced gaming experience.

I also came from Battlefield 2/2142, the best thing is playing and your skills will improve and just like in bf it's good to use the minimap. Hardcore mode is good if you like project reality, most weapons are 1-2 shot kill in HC mode.
I think it's often better to split from your team because teammates will usually run in front of your aim and give your position away.

Maps - Biggest suggestion I can give are to learn the maps inside-out, from both directions, and move cautiously when you're exposed, sprinting to cover when out in the open. In COD4, the guns are VERY accurate, over a decent distance. If you run 'n gun without knowing exactly where people are likely to be shooting you from, you will die a lot.

Once you learn where people tend to hide, and learn how your weapon operates (ie. from how far you can see and shoot someone in ironsights) then you'll improve more quickly.

Some others...

Ironsights - Practice snapping up your ironsights as quickly as you can, and shooting for the upper torso/head.

Game-Types - Also, don't get hung up on always playing TDM. Not only are the various objective-gametypes (DOM, HQ, SAB, S&D) fun, but they also encourage people to move around more, to different areas of the map. This not only helps you learn the maps, but cuts down on camping a bit.

Hardcore servers - usually more tactical, and it takes less bullets to kill. If you're the type of gamer who moves around cautiously, and usually sees someone before they see you (and can put at least one bullet into them first), then you may have more success in this mode where some of the spastic dodging techniques don't work as well.

Mini-Map - learn to quickly glance at your mini-map a lot. Be aware of both friends (green arrows) and enemies (red dots) around you. Quite often, good players will know where you are just from watching their mini-map, and either get the drop on you, or even begin shooting you through a wall because they can see your dot show up.

As others have said, by the time you get to lvl 55, you will be much improved, and your K/D ratio will likely be around 1:1 (or better!) if you've been applying what you've learned.

well practice makes perfect my friend, this game has been out a month or so now so people are used to the maps and it does take a while to readjust from th e other FPS games.

All i can say is give it time and learn the maps.

Haha, I was just good from the beginning... coming from CS helps... the bullets go where the crosshair is... unusual concept.

Kept up a steady 2:1 kd, and its rising.

But yea, use the silenced AK with stopping power, and steady aim, and it'll be easy.

It always helps to just have good aim, and reflexes, and that only comes with a bit of practice.

Yeah I guess this game is just harder for some ppl... as for me the first day i was top of my team every game and still am... I find in pubs there are maby 2 or 3 players that can kinda keep up with me sometime but still it is weird... cuz I was just abvoe avg in css then I went to cod4 and own it.. depends on how you play and ur play style for each map... you can't alway's play the same.. as with bf2 you can...

It was the other way round for me, back in my BF2 days i would get completely hammered on a regular basis, but since i switched to COD4 i find it a much easier game to get into. Like Battl3front said, takes more time for different people.

Whiskey's advice is great. When I first switched from BF2 to CoD4, my kd ration was like 0.25. I got friggin owned. But I kept playing, unlocked guns that I love, got some perks. I'm almost a one star and I love this game. And I've noticed that even the vets of this game will die a lot depending on the map. I still die a lot, but I have WAY more kills now.

Not a HC fan either. It`s too rushed just to somewhat please the realism fans.
I do love playing on modded servers where the UAV, airstrikes, choppers, certain perks are removed and you can only choose between the default kits.
Feels a lot more natural.

When you`re 55, generally good at FPSs and a fast learner, you should have no problems maintaining a 2:1 fr.

My only warning is... that playing CoD will make you bad at CS. Found that out the hard way. I scrimmed for the first time in three weeks... we got wrekt.
