beginner's questions about health, claymore, etc.

ok i got couple questions that i can't figure out the answers to. sorry, but i'm pretty new to the COD series.

is there a way to see your health or any indicators of how much damage you have taken? i ask because i fall from the 2nd floor and then my screen splashes red, but i'm not sure how much of my health is depleted. basically how much does falling down from high places hurt you?

does your soldier heal by himself sometimes? i get hit and my screen gets all red and my soldier breathes hard, but it clears up and his breathing calms down, which seems to me like he's slowly healing? anyways can someone explain how health works in this game?

also, what happens to the claymores you planted when you die? sometimes i noticed they blow up with me if i am right next to it, but sometimes nothing happens. do they just vanish when you die? also is there a way to bypass the claymore like in BF2142 where you can crouch past it to prevent their detonation?

and what is the minimum detonation range for the grenade launcher? sometimes it seems to bounce around off the walls in close quarters and never detonate.

lastly, do you receive any points for taking down the hostile helicopter? and how do you know if YOU'RE the person that took it down? i really think the game should award the people for doing this because it helps the team out immensely. and it would make more people take it down if they get points for it.

    1. Health can't be seen. You can determine your health based on th redness of your screen and breathing, the more red and heavier breathing, the more hurt you are. This game uses a progressive HP system so yes you do regenerate your health fully after awhile.

    2. Claymores disappear when you die, but only after a couple of seconds. Sometimes when you die and the enemy immediately goes near your claymore (before it's gone) it will go off. Claymores have a radius of detection indicated by the laser beam in front of them. So approaching them from the side or rear won't trigger them.

    3. The minimum detonation range is the range at witch the explosion won't affect you, so about 2 meters I'd say. That's basically safety so you don't kill yourself with your own nade launcher.

    4. You get points for downing a heli for the first time you do it (a challenge). After that no, you don't get any points for downing choppers (at least not that I've noticed). Quick tip - once you hear a heli warning - go for the nearest MG nest, it takes down a copter in 1-2 seconds of fire.

1 - If your on the 1st floor of a building (one set of stairs above ground level) and your dropping to the floor you will survive any higher your hoping.

2 - Hardcore mode theres NO HUD, can't remember what the non-hardcore servers hud looks like so can't truly answer this one - although if your flashing red your in serious danger of going down, lay low for a little wait for the breathing to get back to normal and you'll be as good as new.

3 - If you have planted claymores they will disappear after about 3-5 seconds after you die, if your about to plant one when you go down thenits possible that it may be triggered, sometimes they explode also.

4 - No real way of bypassing them other than shooting at them, make sure your not in the blast area though - Also theres a perk known as bomb squad where you will see the bomb icon through walls. If your fast enough then you can dodge the explosion.

5 - 5-7 in-game metres i guess lol if they exist, meant more for distance than room clearing lol. You can kill individual enemies by directly hitting them with a shell in close quarter.

6 - Not sure, you don't get any kill points, although taking down the chopper will enable you to complete some of the challenges.

      :)

thanks, knowing that health regenerates is a big help. now, when i'm hurt i can pull myself out of the action and wait to heal myself. how fast do i heal, like how many hit points per second?

Dont take long to regenerate, 10secs max I would say.

Yea 10 seconds from almost dead to completely healthy.. not very realistic but suitable nonetheless.

cool, thanks... it does seem unrealistic for a game that has some of the best realism elements of the fps genre. at least it doesn't have medic revives.
